What Is a Network Management Software

February 22nd, 2010 by admin

Wondering what a network management software is?  By general definition, this refers to the broad subject of managing computer networks.  There exists a wide variety of software and hardware products that help network system administrators manage a network.  Perhaps time and again you find yourself confronted by problems with your computer network but don’t know how to deal with it.  Network management is the monitoring of an active communications network in order to diagnose problems and gather statistics for administration and fine tuning. Network management covers a wide area including security or ensuring that the network is protected from unauthorized users; performance where there is elimination of bottlenecks in the network; reliability where it is made sure that the network is available to users and responding to hardware and software malfunctions.  Manually monitoring several servers, routers and printers can be quite time consuming, so it is only logical to automate this task by implementing a network management system.
