I wish I knew why we needed to break up

My boyfriend and I had been going together for three years.   We started to date our second year in college and stayed together until after graduation.   I am not sure why it happened but once we were out and on our own he decided it was time that we go our separate ways.  I asked him what happened and he just could not tell me it was just that he needed his space now that he is on his own.  I want so much to experience the Magic of Making Up but do not know where to start.  He will not tell me and I can not understand why we broke up.
