The Internet: No Longer Free

July 19th, 2010 by admin

I’ve been an avid internet user since 1997, when everyone was using AOL. It’s funny to think about how much things have changed since then. The first time I ever saw a TV commercial for a website, I was blown away. I couldn’t understand why a website would spend money on TV advertising. After all, the internet is free! But now, web advertising, pay per click ads, search marketing services and paid placements in places like Twitter are common tricks of the trade. The days of creating a site and submitting it to the search engines is over. Now you have to fight and scratch your way to page one.
