A Nice Surprise

I have been working for the same animation company for several years now. I also teach a night class for the company, talking about careers in computer animation. Today I had a really nice surprise. A student from my very first class stopped by. He has just graduated from college and is looking for a job. He and I have kept in touch over the years so I guess it wasn’t that big of a surprise, but he didn’t tell me that he was coming. He worked in the mail room one summer several years ago, so he knows a lot of people here. I hope we have an opening.

The Articles of Faith

When Joseph Smith was asked by an individual what members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believed, he responded with what became known as the Wentworth Letter. This letter contained thirteen key paragraphs which quickly became known as the Articles of Faith. Outlining the key beliefs of mormon doctrine, the Articles of Faith are often memorized by children to help them gain and remember key knowledge on which to found their testimonies. Mormon doctrine is simple and rings true to something in each human being. That is because we knew these things before we came to earth and have just forgotten them.

Dodgy call

I knew I was not going to enjoy the rest of the conversation when my wife called me at work the other day asking if she should just look up insurance companies on the net. Thankfully she was ok and no one else was hurt, but apparently her car was not in very good shape. According to her story, she was waiting at an intersection and she pulled out she didn’t see the other car turning out of a driveway and she hit smack in to the side of it. I think the other vehicle probably came of worse than hers so it’s times like these that I’m very glad we pay our premiums.

What Will We Eat?

As I studied the scriptures and read about Jesus Christ eating after He was resurrected, it made me wonder how much eating will be a part of our lives after we are resurrected like jesus christ was. I don’t really like the idea of continuing to eat animals, but I would miss the taste of a good burger or steak. I wonder if there will be amazing substitutes for those foods or things that will taste so awesome, we won’t even miss chicken, pork, beef, or other foods. I would actually like to try manna. Maybe we will eat only that?

Melchizedek Priesthood

Mormon Doctrine teaches that the priesthood is the authority to act in God’s name. Though the priesthood was taken from the earth after all those who held it had been killed or passed away after the death of Christ, it was restored to the earth to Joseph Smith. There are two tiers to the priesthood: the lesser priesthood is the Aaronic Priesthood. This was the priesthood given to Aaron, the brother of Moses. The higher priesthood, or the full priesthood, is called the Melchizedek Priesthood. Mormon Doctrine teaches that this was anciently called the Holy Order of the Son of God, but to avoid the too-frequent use of the Lord’s name, it was called after the ancient patriarch Melchizedek.

I am currently in desperate need of debt relief. I am four months behind on my mortgage payment, owe $20,000 in credit card debt and was recently unemployed for three months. I am now back at work but feel I will never dig out of this hole. Every waking moment is spent worrying about how to pay these bills.
