There are many types of window film that you can put on any glass for any specific reason that you may have. Solar control film is normally used for the purpose of keeping out the suns rays but not necessarily the sun light itself. There are different shades of the solar control film so that you can decide on how much sun light you want to come into the room while keeping out the rays of the sun. There is even solar control film that is very dark so your whole room would seem like it was nighttime outside. Some people like this affect on the top part of their windows while leaving some sun come in on the bottom half.
