If you want to teach your young adult child how to use credit in a responsible manner, you may want to think about having them apply for one of those secured credit cards you have seen offered. Secured credit cards are for people with no credit or marred credit. They require a deposit of usually a couple of hundred dollars in order to secure the use of the card for credit purposes. The initial balance for use is an average of fifty to seventy five dollars. After six months of timely payments, the card holder can request an increase, which will be modest.
