Give Aways

July 30th, 2008 by admin

I run a lot of races and I always love the free shwag that is given away either the day before the race, or sometimes after the race. On the bigger races it seems that you get a lot more choice of gifts probably because you pay a little more to enter the race. Anyway, a great idea for a gift in the Northwest race that I ran last weekend were umbrellas. They had the gifts actually posted at different spots of the race because during the 5 hour event, it probably stopped and started raining about 3 different times.

Looking for a Los Angeles Food Photographer?

July 29th, 2008 by admin

I live in Los Angeles.  You know, the city of angels.  I’ve been living here my whole life.  I have two passions.  Food and photography.  When I was younger, I used to look at all the cameras that I could at the mall.  I love pushing all the buttons and seeing what they do.

As I got older, I begin taking a few lessons on photography.  Boy, was there a lot to learn.  I also learn how to cook from my Mom.  She was great cook.  I guess I blended my two passions into one thing.  In the future, it would be fun to become a Los Angeles Food Photographer.  Since there is where I live and photo is my thing.

Does Your Kitchen Need Remodeling or Just Minimizing?

July 29th, 2008 by admin

In these uncertain financial times, we don’t want to get into any major outlays of money, so if you’re thinking that your kitchen is hopeless and needs a major remodeling in order to function, maybe you should think again.

One major reason why people want to get rid of their old kitchen is because it’s cluttered and seems too small. Could it be that it seems so small because you’re trying to hold onto too much useless junk? Do you need five pizza cutters, six garlic presses, two toasters, and three rolling pins (especially since you can’t remember the last time you rolled out some dough)? Try getting rid of the extraneous stuff and see if you don’t come up with clear countertops, and maybe some extra room.

If so, use it for storing some of the appliances you keep on the counter and don’t use every day. If you only use the blender on weekends, then put it away. If you only have toast once or twice a week, does it need to take up that prime real estate on top of the counter?

Once you have everything pared down, then you can decide if some sort of cosmetic kitchen remodeling is called for. Maybe reface or paint cabinets, replace the cabinet pulls, put in a new faucet or sink, or maybe even replace the countertops. But you might be surprised to find that your kitchen didn’t need a complete overhaul, just a good decluttering.

Changing Up the Love Sack

July 29th, 2008 by admin

Keeping with my recent run of room renovations, I just bought a new cover for my LoveSac.  I went with black this time, even though I know it will get dirty.  The rest of my stuff in the family room is also black, and I couldn’t think of a better complimentary color than beige – which was my old cover.   There are some great places to buy LoveSac Covers online and most of them are cheaper than the retail store.  Don’t forget to look for coupon codes and free shipping to save even more.  All in all I think I spent around $250, which is reasonable since they last forever.

Sound Of Fire

July 28th, 2008 by admin

With smoke detector chirping you will have a warning alarm to warn you of fire. This warning sound of fire can save your life. It even works when you are asleep. It has a very distinct sound that wakes you up. I am very thankful for this chirping. It saved my cousin from certain death by smoke inhalation and burn damage. So that is a positive note to end this blog on.

Dream

July 28th, 2008 by admin

It has always been my dream to become a pilot. I would love to take the lessons and get my license. I am wondering if I should wait though until the cost of fuel comes down a bit. Right now it is astronomical to fill up my own car tank let alone a cessna or other aircraft that I have read about in small aircraft reviews. Plus, I would imagine that the lessons are not cheap either. I would venture to say that it would be an expensive adventure to begin with but I do not know how I could afford to fuel my dreams.
